TMNT: Goofing off at Freddy's Ch. 1

Chapter 1: A New Job


Jade and Mikey were walking through the city at night time; Jade was wearing her heavy coat and hood and Mikey was wearing his coat and hood as well. They had ordered a pizza as usual, and April and Casey had to pay for it, as usual. Guilt had started to sink its way into Jade because of this and had decided to join Mikey to pick up tonight’s pizzas for the others. She wanted to talk to Mikey about something, and she knew that only he would be supportive of her on this, seeing that they had been the best of friends ever since they were toddlers.

The two mutant siblings entered Antonio’s Pizza and closed the door behind them. Even though it was cold outside and it was much warmer in the pizza restaurant, they both still kept their hoods and coats on, due to not wanting to be revealed. Mikey walked up to the counter and told the waiter that they were here to pick up a couple of pizzas for O’Neil.

“I’ll go get it.” The waiter said. “Sit down and make yourself comfortable if you want.”

Mikey thanked him and the waiter went back into the kitchen to get the pizzas. Mikey and his younger sister sat down at a nearby table.

The hooded cat’s chocolate-brown eyes looked directly into the disguised terrapin’s baby-blue eyes. “Hey, Mikey? Can I ask you something?”The kunoichi’s voice was barely above a whisper, but Mikey heard her as if she spoke perfectly.

“Sure, sis.” Mikey whispered back. “What is it?”

Jade gulped silently, preparing herself for what she was about to say to her brother. “Well, I’ve been thinking about…” Her voice trailed off before she could finish her sentence.

“Thinking about what?” Mikey asked her, curiosity looming over him like a cloud of mist.

“…I’ve been thinking about getting a job…” Jade finished slowly, completely ready for the cheerful turtle’s reaction, whatever it may be.

“A job?” Mikey gasped. “But we’re mutants! There’s no possible way we could ever get a job!”

“I know, I know.” Jade sighed. “But April and Casey are always using their money to buy our pizzas. I’m starting to feel guilty and I think I’ll get a job so they don’t have to start dipping into their college allowance just to feed us.”

Mikey thought about what his sister had just said. What she said was true; their two human friends had always been paying for their food and, now that he was thinking about it, he was starting to feel guilt sink its way into him.

Mikey looked up at the feline in front of her. “Jade, I know that getting a job is risky, but if you’re willing to get a job just to help pay for pizzas, then I say go for it.”

Jade looked up. “You…you mean it?” Mikey could tell that she was amazed at what he said, based on the tone of her voice.

Mikey nodded once. “Yup.” He suddenly got an idea. “Say, how about I get a job as well? We can make twice as much money and make sure that Casey and April are able to save their money.”

Jade smiled. “I like it.”

“O’Neil!” The Kunoichi and ninja both looked up as the waiter called the name. He was standing at the counter with two pizza boxes. The two siblings got up from the table they were sitting at and both picked up one pizza each. Jade and Mikey both thanked him and exited the pizzeria, knowing that April and Casey had already paid for them.

“So…What kind of job should we get?” Mikey asked as they continued walking.

Jade thought for a moment. “Honestly…I don’t know.” They finally reached the manhole cover. Jade set her pizza down and was about to pick up the manhole cover when she suddenly spotted a newspaper stand, though it was closed. Remembering that there was some change in her coat pocket, Jade walked up to the newspaper stand, took one of the newspaper and placed the quarter on top of the stack.

Jade made her way back to Mikey, who was staring at her in confusion. “The newspapers always filled with ‘help wanted’ ads.” Jade explained as she lifted up the manhole cover. “Maybe we’ll find a good job in it.”

“Sounds like a plan to me.” Mikey said as he grabbed his pizza and jumped down into the sewers. Jade followed with the other pizza and newspaper. She closed the manhole cover after she was fully in the sewers.

“Hey, maybe our brothers and friends can help us pick out a job.” Mikey suggested as they continued walking through the sewers, towards the lair. “And we can—”

“No!” Jade interrupted, her voice shaky with nervousness. “If they find out that we’re planning to get jobs, they’ll confine us to the lair until we’re both thirty! If we want to get jobs and keep them, we’ll have to keep this secret from everyone, even Splinter.”

Mikey blinked in surprise at what she had just said. But what she said was true; the others would never approve of them getting a job, and they probably would be confined to the lair as well. “I guess you’re right…” Mikey muttered out loud.

“Of course I am.” Jade hissed. “Promise me that you won’t say a word about this to anyone, and don’t say or do anything that’ll make them suspicious.”

“Promise.” Mikey agreed, knowing how much getting a job and making money was important to her.

The loyal brother and sister finally made it to the lair within a few minutes. They walked through the turnstiles and pulled their hoods off, gaining the others’ attention. “Guys, you’re back.” April said, smiling.

“And we see you got the pizzas.” Casey added.

“We sure did.” Jade said. She had folded up the newspaper and stuffed it in her coat pocket so that no one would see it. The cat and the turtle handed the two pizzas to the others and sat down with them, to watch TV and eat pizza.

Once both Jade and Mikey had eaten a few slices of pizza and watched at least an hour of TV with everyone else, they got up and headed to the kitchen determine to find a good job for the both of them. They both sat at the table and Jade pulled the newspaper out of her pocket.

“Okay.” Jade said as she unfolded it and handed the newspaper to Mikey. “Find the Help Wanted section; I’m going to get a marker.”

Jade jumped down from her seat and rushed to her room. She took her coat off and set it on her bed before grabbing a red permanent marker from the nightstand next to her bed.

The female cat rushed back to the kitchen and saw that Mikey had found the Help Wanted section and was looking through it. Jade sat down in the seat to Mikey’s right. “Alright, tell me what’s on there.” Jade said.

“Hmm…There’s an opening for lawyers.” Mikey suggested.

“No, too much arguing and we’ve never been to law school.” Jade sighed.

“Okay. Um…Astronauts?”

“No, don’t like flights or food in packages.”

“Bank teller, then?”

“No, that’ll stress our brains too much.”

Mikey sighed. He searched through the section before something caught his eye. “Hey, what about this?” He showed it to Jade. It was a picture of an animatronic bear and information next to it. “’Family pizzeria looking for one to three security guards to work the night shift.’” Mikey read out loud. “’Watch camera, maintain pizzeria and monitor animatronics. Requirements: 20/20 vision, ability to multitask, and able to stay up late. Hours: 12 am to 6 am. Not responsible for injuries/death.’ $120 a week.”

Jade thought for a moment. This job looked perfect! They had the requirements, the hours were perfect and they could do all the things they needed to do. Jade pulled the cap off of the marker and circled the ad. “This one’s perfect.” She said. Jade pulled her T-Phone out and called the number in the ad.

“Hello? Fazbear Entertainment?” Jade said once someone answered the phone. “Me and my brother would like to apply for your jobs as night security guards.”
