A thousand years.

That’s how long her sweet older sister had been dead. Exactly one thousand years ago today.

Aphrodite still remembered that day like it was yesterday. The Krystallian with the title of ‘The Slayer of Immortals/The God of Torment’, the CPU God Hades…He had attacked the peaceful village that Aphrodite and her elder sister Artemis had been watching over…And right before the alarms could have the chance to go off, to alert the village that there was a killer within their homes…The blood of over a hundred stained the ground a deep, dark crimson color…

Artemis had never failed to live up to her titled as the Goddess of Compassion…She cared deeply and passionately for the people of Krystalline, and she was admired greatly for her genuine heat…She had lived up to her title until the very end, when she had shoved a widow and her infant son out of the way of Hades’

Aphrodite didn’t see Hades slaughter her sister…She had been unable to hear her sister’s dying scream, or the thud of her body hitting the ground, or the splash of the CPU’s blood making contact with the dusty floor…But she had found the corpse when it was already too late and her sister’s body was lifeless…

Fortunately, Hades had not been the only slayer of immortals, for he had been slain by the grieving CPU Goddess before twilight had fallen on the same day that Artemis had taken her final breath…For the moment that she had found her elder sister’s lifeless corpse on the ground in the very heart of the village, Aphrodite wanted nothing more than to have that heartless bastard’s spilled on the ground.

“You’re thinking about that day again, aren’t you sister?”

The feminine voice had broken Aphrodite from her thoughts and the heart-wrenching memories. With a small smile, the CPU Goddess turned her head to the source of the voice: a small, aqua-blue orb that glowed brightly and beautifully yet was somewhat transparent as it floated a few feet off the ground.

For a thousand years, even though she had been slain and was no longer in physical form, Artemis’ soul had always stayed by Aphrodite’s side.

The lavender-gray furred CPU Goddess nodded once at her elder sister’s soul before turning back to the dark yet beautiful star and galaxy-filled night sky above her. “Yes,” she replied before releasing a small sigh from her jaws. “To think it’s been a thousand years ago today…It almost seems borderline impossible…” she trailed off slightly and flattened her ears to her skull as she dove deeper into those memories once more.

“It would be to anyone else…But it’s possible and very real for us,” the CPU’s soul replied solemnly. “After all, we’ve been this way for a thousand years.”

Aphrodite nodded once more at Artemis’ statement, still smiling at her elder sister’s wisdom. Ever when they were very young children, for as long as Aphrodite can remember, Artemis had always been the more mature, level-headed one of the two.

Taking one more glance at the night sky above the two sisters, Aphrodite found her words to speak. “It’s just so hard to believe that…” she paused for a moment as the words seem to get caught up in her throat, though she managed to clear it up and continue a quick moment or two later, “…That tonight will be our last night together like this.”

“We both knew that this day would come, sister,” if the CPU Goddess’ soul could smile, she would be smiling warmly yet seriously at her younger sister. “Just as the Oracle of the Dreamer Palaces told us exactly three-hundred years ago…Our souls will be reincarnated, yet our new physical selves will not recognize our souls until the time has come.” Artemis’ soul paused for a moment, as if she were trying to find the right words to say, and a few seconds later she spoke again. “Aphrodite, I want you to promise me something.”

Light-blue eyes blinked gently as they turned to the glowing soul at her side. “Of course, Artemis. What is it?”

“I know that once our physical selves recognize our souls, then they will have our memories,” Artemis continued, using that same solemn tone as before. “Once your physical self remembers this, I want you to promise…Promise that you’ll come find me, that you’ll always stay by my side until our last days, and that we’ll always be the sisters that we were a thousand years ago…Can you promise me that?”

Silence reigned between the two Goddesses for a few short moments as Aphrodite silently allowed her sister’s words to sink in. Though the smile returned to Aphrodite’s face as she nodded and released the words, “I promise, Artemis…I promise.”

A few seconds after those words slipped from her jaws, dim hues of light red, orange and yellow mixed together split into the sky. The sun was coming up as dawn erupted within the sky.

It was finally time.

Today was the day that her elder sister’s soul would be reincarnated…Today was the day that Aphrodite’s soul would be ripped from her body and go dormant until she would reincarnated along with Artemis…They wouldn’t be able to see each other for years, their souls wouldn’t be able to recognize each other until the time comes…

For a thousand years, Aphrodite had missed Artemis’ physical warmth, she missed all the things that they did together when Artemis was still breathing, she missed everything that they did over a thousand years ago…And finally after exactly one thousand years, she would soon get to feel her elder sister’s warmth, to play with Artemis like she did when they were children…They could finally do all the things that they loved to do together after all this time.

Both sisters felt a mix of emotions…happiness, excitement, nervousness and sorrow. Happiness and excitement that they would finally get to do all these things together again…Nervousness that they had no idea what their new physical selves will be like…And finally, sorrow that they wouldn’t be able to know of each other, be able to feel each other’s warmth, or be able to do things that they loved for who knows how many years…

Aphrodite crawled over to her elder sister’s soul, which had started to slowly but surely go dim as it faded away to find its new physical self. Almost instinctively, Aphrodite wrapped her arms around the fading soul and held it close to her chest as a small, single tear fell from her blue eyes. Artemis’ soul…It was warm, comforting…Aphrodite wanted to stay like this forever, but she could already feel the life slipping from her as her own soul was being ripped from her body. The CPU Goddess could feel herself growing weaker by the second as death started to consume her.

This truly was it.

“Don’t cry, my sweet little sister,” Artemis’ voice, rich with sweetness, was all that Aphrodite could hear as her vision started to blur and darken. “Just remember, we’ll see each other again one day…And I look forward to the day that I’ll be able to hold you in my arms once more.”

Once Artemis spoke those words, the warmth that once clung to Aphrodite’s chest vanished, allowing the cold, empty air to nip at her skin. Artemis’ soul had completely vanished, gone to inhabit its new physical self.

Aphrodite laid down in the grass below her as her consciousness started to fade from her. This was it. Her soul would be dormant for some time until it was reincarnated, just like her elder sister.

And right before the darkness fully consumed her and she exhaled her final breath, the Oracle of the Dreamer Palaces’ words echoed loudly within her mind…

One sister’s soul will be found within the jade of hope, while the other sister’s soul will be found within the skies that contain the heavens

I got the idea to write this a little while ago but didn't get around to writing it up until this morning right after church ^ ^

Anyways, if you guys paid attention to Jade's biography, then you'd see that she is the reincarnation of Goddess Artemis, the Goddess of Compassion, who is also the sister of the Goddess Aphrodite, the Goddess of Dreamistia. Well, that gave me the idea to write this little story, where Aphrodite and Artemis spend their last moments together right before they are reincarnated. Plus, I wanted these two to have some sisterly moments~ ^w^

I think it would be very cool if Jade (Artemis) and Heaven (Aphrodite) were both reincarnated and have the original Artemis and Aphrodite's memories return to them the moment that the two of the transform into their Goddess Forms ^w^
Though it's just an idea right now XD

Omfg, this is so emotional and sad ;-;
But anyway, I love it!~ I gotta draw out how Aphrodite and Artemis looked like in the first generation. I'll later on add the idea that they'll get their memories back when they transform into their goddess forms. ^w^
